Recently, specifically in July 22, in Sonic's 25th Anniversary party, we got trailers for two games in the Sonic The Hedgehog series. The first of which, which actually has gameplay for it, is a retraux title going by the name of Sonic Mania. It aims to recapture the feel of the 2D Sonic Games of old, and it looks great.
Here is the trailer for Sonic Mania:
For those who didn't know, a while ago Sega came out with a message apologizing to fans of the Sonic series who they felt had let down and they would get their act together. Given the looks of Sonic Mania from the trailer... Sega is doing just that. This game is made via a collaboration with a few developers including one Christian Whitehead, who made the Retro engine, on which runs the iOS and Android releases of Sonic 1, Sonic 2 and Sonic CD.
And from what I'm seeing? Sonic Mania looks great. The gameplay definitely looks accurate to the Classic Sonic norm, it has the original trio (Although I would want to see Amy playable with her Sonic Advance moveset on top of those three) and yet it manages to keep things original with new zones and edited designs to existing zones.
So I want to ask you all: What do you think of Sonic Mania? Does it look good to you? Could this mark the start of Sonic making a comeback and making a good name for himself again?
