And by "nostalgic" I mean the one that was most clearly designed to appeal to our misty-eyed nostalgia about being kids in the 1990s?

For me, I'd say Kirby vs. Buu hands down. I mean, forget that Buu lost - the real controversy is that they didn't give Kirby kickass powers like, say, the electric lightsaber from The Crystal Shards. It mostly seemed to be his powers from Superstar, lol.

Second for me would be Eggman vs. Wily. They had the various Robot Masters from the first few games, they had sprites that were reminiscent of the nineties games, and they even had Scratch and Grounder from the nineties cartoon.

What do you guys think?

For me it's the first match that I was really hyped for. Strider Hiryu vs Ryu Hayabusa.

I don't think the show is old enough to get me nostalgic like Super Mario Bros Z and etc, but if I had to choose I'm going Thor vs. Raiden. First fight, more unique animation style and godbless the music

Batman vs Spider-Man was the episode that made me a fan and it was my favorite episode until Hulk vs Doomsday came out.

Link vs. Cloud. That level of Link wank was just what I wanted back in the day, and it's as good a reminder as it gets for just how far I've come since then.
