Didn't see that one coming. Christoph Waltz is great though. Skyfall really tried to bring back a lot of the classic elements to the Bond series, so now they are bringing back the big bad Blofeld.

So is this the same Blofeld he has fought before but with new plastic surgery and a German accent? Is this the first encounter? Does this mean SPECTRE is back? What about the Quantum group? They were kind of setup to be the 21st century SPECTRE in the first two Craig outings, but Skyline seemed to ignore that plotline.

I am so looking forward to this! NOW WE ONLY NEED JAWS!

Fun fact; Apparently Dave Batista (yes of WWE & GotG fame)will be playing "Mr. Hinx", which random reading/implications online indicates him to be of "main henchman" role, ala Oddjob, Jaws, Nick Nack, Xenia Onatopp, etc.

it's my understanding that Quantum was going to be the new SPECTRE essentially, but now with the "reboot/retcon" of Skyfall they're apparently ditching Quantum and just making it SPECTRE straight up... which is a shame if so. Seems like they would at least set it up that Quantum could be a front for SPECTRE or some shenanigans... but I digress.

Now we only need Chistopher Nolan to direct and Muse to provide the theme~

I don't think I have seen a film where Christoph Waltz was bad. He played a totally different character in Zero Theorem, so I'm pretty sure his take on Blofield will be something totally unique and not what anyone is expecting. Bautista was good in Guardians (less so in other stuff I've seen him in) so hopefully they will use him in moderation.

It depends if we are going back to the traditional Bond formula or going with the more gritty tone of the Craig bonds. Matthew Vaughn really nailed the 60s Bond style in X-men First Class, also Kingsmen looks to be a fun modern day riff on spy films. If we are going to bring back in the big supporting cast and give Bond some gadgets again, then I think he could ace a Bond film.

On the flip side if we are going grim and gritty, how about Gareth Evans? He has done all kinds of international pictures so easily could see throwing Bond into some interesting locals and get a couple of the Raid guys and you know the fight scenes will be outstanding (Star Wars knew what they were doing when they picked up those guys.)

As for music, I still think Muse would be great. I'd also think if we are going female singer/artist Janelle Monae really has the retro-cool vibe down.

This looks so damn good. My Hype is uncontainable!

Also;
Spoiler
They are somehow connecting it to the Quantum organization; Mr. White returns to aid/inform Bond of SPECTRE. Also Waltz isn't playing Blofeld, playing another character that's high ranking SPECTRE member

As I recall they only used Quantum because they didn't have the rights to SPECTRE, which had been lost since the mid 80's or so (ever notice the group seemed to just fall off the map since then? That really wasn't a good sign). They got them back, so they're just going ahead with that.

SPECTRE rights may have be tied up due to the convoluted Thuderball rights which just recently got sorted out.

It the novels SMERSH was the main ongoing evil organization. In the films, SPECTRE was subbed in for early films and the Quantum group filled that role in the Craig films. In the novels thought, SMERSH and SPECTRE both exist and are different groups.

Mild SPECTRE rumor
Spoiler
Mr White from Casino Royle/Quantum of Solace is suppose to return in SPECTRE. So the Quantum group may be working with, against, or just be a cover for SPECTRE.

So the film will prob clear up a few things

Wait, what? SMERSH? They haven't existed since 1946. And their only purpose was to fight Nazis - why the heck would they work as a villain?

Precisely, which is why they're only NOW able to re-introduce SPECTRE into the Bond reboot.

The Films had both also. SPECTRE was the main group, whereas SMERSH was only in for a couple of movies. In the novels it started out SMERSH, but SPECTRE eventually just "took over" (in spirit mostly).

Fox confirmed for not reading my spoiler or watching the trailer ;)
